THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME
MAY 12-14, 2017
This spring Vivid Motion Dance presents The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Follow the curious character Quasimodo as he explores the world outside of Notre Dame’s bell towers for the first time. Socially isolated and disabled from birth, Quasimodo joins a festival and is crowned the King of Fools due to his unusual appearance. He meets Esmeralda and learns how to be a friend.
However, the world is often darker than it seems. Paris is rife with corruption. There are outcasts, clever thieves, and armed soldiers. Quasimodo cannot be certain who to trust. He witnesses as his caretaker, Archdeacon Frollo, descends into sin, a soldier is badly hurt in an act of rage, and his new friend Esmeralda is accused of a shocking crime. Quasimodo must question all he’s ever known and find strength within himself to fight to keep his friend safe in a world of beauty and despair.

DECEMBER 15-17 & 19-23, 2017
Now in its 15th year, Vivid Motion's holiday show is a perennial favorite. This year’s show, set in the 1980’s, features Phil Thibault as Clarence, Allie Munier as the Rat Queen, Matteson Nadeau as the Nutcracker Princess, and Kat Masters as Drosselmeyer.
Vivid Motion, Portland’s innovative and kinda quirky dance community, has been delighting audiences with burlesque, ballet, and everything in between since 2003. The Nutcracker Burlesque is a perennial favorite with standing-room-only crowds filling the theater at St. Lawrence Arts each night.
