About our Teachers

Rachael O'Donnel has been dancing since she learned to walk. She studied jazz, ballet, and hip-hop throughout her childhood. In college, she began to study modern dance as well, taking dance classes at Northern ArizonaUniversity and dancing with local companies. At age 19, she co-founded a community dancecompany in Flagstaff, Arizona where she gained experience as a teacher, choreographer, performer, and director. More recently, she taught hip hop at Drouin Dance Center in Westbrook and has danced in two seasonal performances with Vivid Motion. Hip Hop is her favorite form of dance and she is excited to be teaching again. She requests that dancers bring knee pads (if they have them) to class.

Brigitte Paulus is a classically trained ballerina, who had the fortune to have fantastic professional dancers for her teachers. She danced at Joffrey Ballet in New York for a bit, and then came back to Maine where she branched out into other forms of dance and eventually helped to start Vivid Motion. She's done Jazz, Tap, Middle Eastern, Flamenco, Hip Hop and a little bit of whatever she can throw her body into.

Auditions for Thug. June 4, 6:00 PM at Drouin Dance Center, Westbrook

This summer's most intense dance show! An original piece which deals with everything from violence, bullying and profiling, to depression and loss.

  • Shows will be August 7, 8, 9, &10 at St. Lawrence Arts in Portland.

  • Rehearsals will be:
Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 6 PM to 9 PM at Drouin Dance Center on Bridge St. in Westbrook

  • Rehearsals start June 9th

  • Tech week will start August 3rd, with rehearsals each night from 6 PM to 11 PM.

  • You do not need to have any formal dance training, a positive attitude and willingness to try count for a lot! There are lots of parts for different skill levels of dancers, so come on out and audition.

  • Auditions will be held in a class format... That means, a warmup will be taught, then each choreographer will teach a combination. Everyone auditions at once, there is no need to prepare anything special.
Please wear clothes you can move in, and either dance shoes or barefeet.

  • We are non-profit and our productions are all-volunteer. In addition to rehearsals and shows, you will be asked to do some volunteer work, like hanging up posters, sewing costumes, building sets, etc.
